Had an electrical starting issue right before closing. They stayed late to run diagnostics and got my battery and alternator sorted so I wouldn't be stranded. True community mechanics who genuinely care!
As a woman who has had bad experiences at other mechanics trying to oversell me, Meckfessel was a breath of fresh air. They treated me with total respect, showed me the worn parts, and charged exactly what was quoted.
Top notch local auto shop! Fair pricing, extremely skilled mechanics, and honest service. If you need tires or brake work in the Belleville area, look no further.
My front end had a bad vibration at highway speeds. Other shops couldn't figure it out, but Meckfessel diagnosed a bent wheel and bad alignment immediately. Drives like a brand new car now!
Fast, professional oil change and full vehicle inspection. They explained everything clearly and got me back on the road in less than 45 minutes. Great coffee in the waiting area too!
Been bringing our family vehicles to Meckfessel in Belleville for years. You can always trust their honest recommendations—they never push unnecessary repairs and always deliver high quality work.
Had a full set of Michelin tires installed and balanced here. The ride is buttery smooth, pricing was totally transparent with no hidden fees, and the staff in Belleville was friendly and knowledgeable.
I came in with a leaking tire right before two critical medical appointments. The team at Meckfessel diagnosed the issue, patched the tire, and got me out the door in plenty of time. Truly saved my day!
I had a sudden tire blowout on Main Street and limped into their shop. They ordered the exact tire I needed for next-day delivery, gave me a ride home, and had me back on the road the next morning. Absolutely stellar and caring service!
Mark Meckfessel and the team went way above and beyond to fix my truck brakes and replace all the camper tires right before a big family trip. They were swamped, but instead of turning me away they got everything done properly and on time. Best customer service in Belleville!
Wonderful service, oil change and tire rotation was quick and simple. Will absolutely recommend to family and friends!
These guys are top notch! Helped me out when I had a flat and had me up and running in no time! Thank you for your kindness!
Had a blown tire and they got it swapped over as soon as I got there. Good people here.
I recently had a flat tire and Meckfessel’s replaced the tire quickly. I received great customer service and appreciated the quality of work they provided.
My son had a little mishap and ended up with 2 flats. They fixed one first thing in the morning so I could go get the car and take it back to them to fix the other. Was very appreciative. Since my man Bruce Schaefer retired they are my go to tire shop. Thanks Mark and Chris, keep up the good work!
It was great service I will be using them for my future oil changes, etc. I had an appointment and I waited in the office for about an hour to get it done. Oil change and tire rotation plus fluid fill.
Had a flat on my trailer so I bought a new tire and they changed it for me right away went back two days later and got the other three tires. No wait they did it right away and got out very happy with their service.
Caught a flat on the way home, stopped in and dropped the tire off. They had it patched and back on my car before the end of the day! Great crew and front office.
Took my car in for an oil change. They did an assessment of everything that may need repaired or services performed. They called me and gave me an honest assessment. Couldn't be happier for their honesty and convenience.
I may have been able to find a lower price elsewhere, but it wouldn’t have given me the peace of mind of knowing my complicated ADA battery installation was done correctly. Their knowledge and service—with a genuine smile—are truly unmatched. Thank you for taking the time to squeeze us in and get us safely back on the road again. Five-star service all the way!
My car died and they had a tight schedule. They still worked me in the same day, despite being a new client. My car was not worth fixing but they offered but we declined. After googling, it was a little over average price but the employees were so kind and to be the only shop in Smithton. I think this place is worth every penny.

How long has Meckfessel Tire & Auto been serving the community?
Meckfessel Tire & Auto has been proudly family-owned and operated since 1927. For nearly 100 years, we have built a reputation on honest advice, transparent pricing, superior craftsmanship, and dedicated customer service across Southern Illinois.
Do you offer commercial fleet tire and maintenance services?
Yes! We partner with local businesses across Belleville, Smithton, and St. Clair County to provide comprehensive fleet tire management, scheduled maintenance, priority turnaround, and consolidated billing to keep commercial fleets running smoothly and minimize downtime.
How often should I change the oil in my vehicle?
Most modern vehicles using full synthetic motor oil require an oil change every 5,000 to 7,500 miles (or every 6 months), while conventional oil typically requires changes every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. Our technicians will inspect your oil condition and check manufacturer specifications to advise you on the optimal service interval.
What are the signs that my vehicle needs a wheel alignment?
You should have your alignment checked if you notice:
- Your vehicle pulls to the left or right when driving on a straight road.
- Uneven or rapid tire tread wear.
- A crooked or off-center steering wheel while driving straight.
- Steering wheel vibration at highway speeds.
What financing options are available for tires and unexpected auto repairs?
We offer flexible financing to make car care affordable for every budget:
- Bridgestone Affiliated Retailer Credit Card (CFNA): Dedicated line of credit with 6 months deferred interest on purchases of $149 or more.
- Acima Credit: Flexible lease-to-own financing with instant approvals and no credit check required.

Yes, both our Belleville and Smithton locations offer a secure 24/7 overnight key drop box so you can leave your vehicle with us at your convenience. We also provide local customer shuttle and drop-off service while your vehicle is in our shop.
Are your mechanics ASE-certified?
Yes! Meckfessel Tire & Auto proudly employs ASE-certified technicians. Our mechanics undergo continuous training and use state-of-the-art diagnostic and repair equipment to guarantee precision, safety, and reliability on every repair.

While walk-ins are always welcome, we encourage scheduling an appointment online or calling our Belleville (618-233-0014) or Smithton (618-234-0014) shops in advance to minimize your wait time and guarantee prompt turnaround.
How often should I have my tires rotated and balanced?
We recommend rotating and balancing your tires every 5,000 to 7,500 miles, or with every scheduled oil change. Regular rotations ensure even tread wear, prolong tire lifespan, enhance fuel efficiency, and ensure optimal handling on Southern Illinois roads.
What tire brands do you sell and install?
